Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME)
If you're pursuing a psychological claim for workers’ compensation in Los Angeles, you may need an evaluation from a Qualified Medical Evaluator. These evaluations help determine whether psychological injuries, such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD, are connected to workplace experiences or injuries.
Psychological injuries can arise from:
Workplace harassment
Hostile work environments
Trauma at work
Physical injuries resulting in chronic pain
A QME evaluation helps assess how these conditions affect a worker’s daily functioning and eligibility for benefits.
QME Psychological Evaluation Process
Once your Panel QME is scheduled, you will receive appointment details. The evaluation typically lasts 4 to 6 hours and includes:
Review of psychosocial, medical, psychiatric, educational, occupational, and legal history
Standardized psychological testing to assess emotional and cognitive functioning
Review of all relevant medical records related to your claim
The QME has 30 days after the evaluation to complete a report, which is provided to relevant parties involved in your case. This report is designed to assist in the workers’ compensation claims process.
